Day 1: Lisbon: a city that ignites all your senses

Our first day was incredible!  We took the metro and went to the center of Lisbon where we saw a statue in honor of Marques De Pombal who rebuilt Lisbon after the earthquake of 1755 destroyed 85% of the city

Then we went off on our own for a couple of hours in Baixa where some of us went to the market and had bread, cheese, chorizo, juice, and sweets.

You could take a stroll to Doca da Marina down Aveneida da Liberdade and take in all the sights of local artists, musicians, artisans and performers.

And if our tastebuds and other senses weren't tantalized enough, we went to Rolo Restaurant to have traditional Portuguese soup, a cod casserole-type dish, and of course, gelato!

After that, we went back to Hotel da Berna and showered and wanted to take an evening walk for ice cream...but the night may have gone a little unexpectedly!
