Day 11: Homeward Bound and full of Happiness

Our trip was really life-changing.  Many of the students wrote in the journal Ms. Teulings keeps and expressed their gratitude for all of the experiences.  Their most favorite memories were riding bikes in Barcelona, the Flaminco show in Grenada, swimming in the Atlantic in Mangala, seeing a bullfight, and walking the streets of Lisbon.  They went as 13 young people who didn't really know one another but came back as friends with memories they will cherish all of their lives.  I have enjoyed documenting our experiences and I hope you all have enjoyed the journey along with us. Next year's trip is to the Swiss Alps, Germany, and northern Italy.  It is sure to be just as magical as this year's!  Make sure you check for announcements for meetings to sign up.  You will never regret a trip like this. You will only regret not going all four years; just ask Christian, our student ambassador. Keep traveling. Keep learning.  Keep living.

Day 10: Barcelona, mi amor

The last day of our trip was certainly a memorable one!  We began the day with an impromptu tour of the Olympic stadiums and buildings built for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic games.  We also went up to Montjuic to see the spectacular view of the city.  The oddest bromance Barcelona has ever seen. It made us all really uncomfortable Our tour guide, Carmen, told us all about Antonio Gaudi and his influence is seen all over Barcelona Th building below is called Casa Battlo and the facade was built between 1904-1906.  It was based around the Legend of St. George  which revolves around dragons.  That is why the top of the building looks like it has scales and the windows are made to look like the bones of the people the dragon ate. We also went to La Sagrada Familia which is supposed to be finished in 2026.  Gaudi was also commissioned as the architect for this cathedral and he used parabolas
